Library Research :)

I think the hardest thing when doing a research on a topic, is to find the most credible source to use. Normally when I search a topic on Google, I click the first link that I see without even paying attention if it’s credibility. Sometimes I’m not sure which information is more reliable than the other, so I intend to use a lot of websites when doing a research. Only at the end of the day I notice that they are not credible and effective enough as my source. This library research course help me about that issue. I learned to critique well which website is a good one from the bad one.
This course had a good explanation of plagiarism; why we shouldn’t do it and how to avoid it. Because of this course, I became more aware of the consequences if I ever do plagiarism. It taught us the proper way to cite someone’s work and the importance of doing it. It made us learn the differences between plagiarism works from those works that are not plagiarized. I learned in this class how to create a work cited better. I learned how to cite other’s people works properly and acknowledging them as a good source.
The Library Research course helped me to be a better researcher online. The sites that this course had provided me are really helpful and credible for me as a researcher. These sites give us mostly all the things that we want when finding an information about a topic. I also learned how to use the library as a college student more efficiently. Over all, I improved my library research skills.

Books :)

Since everything is on the internet, I don’t need books right?
We definitely still need books even though internet is everywhere. Why? First of all, it’s because not everybody has a computer access, so not everyone can use the internet. This means that books are the only credible source for them to learn and be entertained.  Second, it’s because books are more reliable than the internet. In books we are introduced well on who the author is and help us to be more familiar with them, while internet doesn’t give a good background of the author in the text. We don’t really pay attention on the author’s background information unlike we intend to do in books.
Reading books can let us communicate to the author in more personal way. Reading books is a good habit; it let us express our feelings and emotions more freely. In books we can identify the different identity of individuals, which makes us be attached and relate to the characters of the book.  The writers make us think more deeply in the piece they wrote. Books are really handy, you can take them everywhere. This allows you to read the book, anywhere anytime.
The information from the internet is mostly derived from the book. The internet gets the information from the book for the people who want the information right away. In other words, it’s the easy way. This makes books are still better because they teach us to analyze the contents better. They make a different good relationship to its reader and the writer. Books are important because they can do a lot of things for us. They can make us entertain and most importantly learn, so we definitely still need them in our lives.

Librarians and Library :)

Librarians help us about everything that involves books and records. I think that’s what they mainly do for us. They help us how to find a certain information or book that we need. They prepare and classify the books and materials that we need. They sort books into the categories they belong, so it’s easy for us to find them. Librarians also let us know if there are new books that we might be interested to read. They also organize records and fix them. And especially, they engage us to read books.
I think it would be really cool if librarians tell us information about the book. Like a group studies about it or discussion that will make the readers be more familiarize with the book, and learn as well.  It would also be cool if there would be more storytelling for the children.
Because technology improves every time, I think the library of the future might look more advance and improved. And by that, I mean that more technology will introduce and less manual and physical work of the librarians will be needed. I think there will be a machine/device that will make us find books that we need in a very easier way. More likely, we will be introduced to a newer way to use books in the future. The information that we need might also be there right away. Honestly, I think that the work of the librarians will be less, because of the technology that has been introduced that time.

What do I want to be...?

I work hard when it comes to my studies because I want to pursue bachelor’s degree of Nursing. Why did I choose to major in nursing? Well first of all, I sure want to be in medical field to save lives. I chose to be a nurse because I like doing anything that involves helping people and something with medicine. Most of my family members are in medical field, and so I want to be one of them. Also, I do well in Science related classes and I like learning about them.

Pre-collegiate really has been a help for me because it helps me prepare for my future and pursue my dream in medical field. It makes sure that I do my best to get to college and help me to keep track on my studies. Also it introduced to me about the Health careers and choose among them on which path do I want to take. This program teaches us about certain courses and encourages us. Luckily, Nursing is one of them. They teach and make us learn more about nursing which makes me want to take it as my major. And I think that’s really helpful because most of students don’t know yet what they want to be. It is an opportunity to me to learn what I must learn for now, before taking it as my major.

I want to be a nurse someday simply because I want to help the people that are sick and give cure to them. I want to be the bridge for the Doctors and the patients. For me, being a nurse allows me to learn how to save patients and be able to do so. I just certainly think that the path of being a nurse is the one that I want to take.
